depression treatment for therapists toronto

Depression is a mental health disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, and a range of physical and emotional symptoms.

Many people visit therapists, psychologists and mental health professionals to treat depression.  Depression help can also be offered as part of group therapy or one-on-one therapy.

Depression and anxiety can often be connected and are common conditions that can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background.

Mental health professionals label depression as a mental illness which can interfere with many areas of your life such as school, family, and relationships.

Well-known forms of depression include:

- Postpartum depression
- Clinical depression
- Major depressive disorder
- Persistent depressive disorder

Some of the common symptoms of depression include:

  1. Persistent sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness:

Depression is a mental health condition characterized by a persistent low mood, lack of interest or pleasure in activities, and a range of emotional and physical symptoms.

The feeling of sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness is often a central aspect of depression and can significantly impact a person's overall well-being.

  2. Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed:

Anhedonia is often a clear indication that an individual's emotional well-being is affected by the condition.

It can have a profound impact on a person's quality of life and their ability to engage in activities that were once meaningful or pleasurable.

  3. Changes in appetite, weight, or sleep patterns:

Depression can have a significant impact on a person's physical well-being, leading to disruptions in these areas.

These changes are often linked to the emotional and psychological aspects of the condition.

  4. Fatigue, lack of energy, or decreased motivation:

These symptoms can have a significant impact on a person's daily functioning, making it challenging to engage in usual activities, fulfill responsibilities, and maintain overall well-being.

  5. Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or remembering details:

These symptoms can significantly affect a person's ability to perform tasks, engage in daily activities, and interact with others effectively.

They often contribute to a sense of frustration and can impact various areas of life.

  6. Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness:

These feelings are often intertwined with other symptoms and can significantly impact a person's self-esteem, emotional well-being, and overall outlook on life.

Addressing these emotions is an important aspect of managing depression.

  7. Irritability, restlessness, or agitation:

While depression is often associated with feelings of sadness and emptiness, it can also manifest in more agitated and irritable states.

These symptoms can affect a person's interactions with others and overall well-being.

  8. Physical symptoms such as headaches, digestive problems, or chronic pain:

Depression is not solely an emotional disorder; it can have a range of physical manifestations as well. These symptoms can often be confusing because they might not be immediately recognized as related to depression.

Coaches do NOT help people overcome or treat mental illnesses such as depression.  If you have been diagnosed with or think you have depression, it's best to speak with mental health professionals such as psychologists, psychotherapists, and therapists.

If you have not been diagnosed with depression, but experience habitual feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or just feeling like nothing you do seems to make you happy anymore, a coach may be able to help.

Our subconscious & unconscious mind make up 90%+ of our behaviour.

Anybody who has subconscious beliefs that make them feel like they're not enough, like they're always losing, and like they're powerless to change things can feel sad, defeated, hopeless, and more.

The good news is that these are just beliefs & patterns that can be broken and changed.

Breaking patterns allows you to see the truth of who you actually are, and the power and choices you actually have in life.

Through coaching, the goal is to find these underlying subconscious beliefs and patterns, and either change or break them.

You will receive new options, opportunities, and choices regarding how you want to live your life.

Breaking limiting and untrue patterns and beliefs about yourself and about life frees you and puts you back in the driver's seat.

For example, some people feel sad and hopeless because they desperately want to feel Love & Connection, but subconsciously believe that they have to EARN it from themselves and other people, instead of experiencing it head-on.

Through coaching, you'll learn how to live OUT OF Love & Connection, as opposed to chasing it.

There are other common beliefs that once changed could help you go from sadness to fulfillment, from feeling out of control to feeling in-control, and feeling like you can actually experience the feelings and needs that make you feel ALIVE & FREE.
